Engraving on Lithoss.
Every Lithoss button and coverplate can be personalised with custom text, symbols, or artwork engraved directly into the surface. Engraving is permanent, tactile, and unique to each finish — a detail your clients will notice every time they use the switch.
How it works
Two engraving methods.
Personalisation is added at the end of production. The right technique depends on the finish and the effect you're after.
Method 01
Laser Engraving
The premium technique. Text or symbols are etched directly into the surface using a laser, creating both visible and tactile detail. The engraving reveals the underlying material — a result that is permanent, precise, and unique to each finish.
Available on all finishes except Chrome
Method 02
Silk-screen Printing
A printed application of text or symbols onto the button surface. Flat, clean, and precise — no tactile depth. The print color is matched to the chosen finish. Best for fine text and small symbols where legibility is the priority.
Not available on Chrome · Textured White · Textured Black
Back-lit engraving combines laser engraving with a 24V LED mechanism. When the switch is active or in standby, the engraved label glows — warm or white depending on the LED chosen. Requires a 24V White LED or Amber LED variant. Most requested for luxury residential applications.

Button vs coverplate engraving.
Engraving can be applied to each button, or to the coverplate beside each button. The placement changes both the visual result and the cost.
Button Engraving
Engraving sits directly on each button. The symbol or text moves with the button when pressed. Suitable for most functional labelling applications — rooms, scenes, lighting zones.
Coverplate Engraving
Engraving sits on the coverplate beside each button. The label is static — fixed to the plate, not the button. Recommended when engraving is intended as a design feature rather than a functional label.
Coverplate engraving is priced per module (the coverplate section beside each button), not per button. It is significantly more expensive than button engraving. For most projects where labelling is functional, button engraving is the appropriate choice. Contact Florian Designs for a quote that includes both options.

Laser engraving removes the lacquer to expose the material beneath. The reveal color depends on the finish — and whether the engraving is on a button or a coverplate.

Important: The reveal color varies depending on whether engraving is on a button or the coverplate, and which Lithoss collection is specified. Select buttons on matte, textured, and anodic finishes reveal brass — while the same finish's coverplate reveals black or light grey.

Ordering
How to specify engraving.
Engraving is applied at the end of production. You do not need final text content ready when you place your order.
01
Mark engraving on your order
Indicate which buttons or coverplates are to be engraved. Specify the method: laser or silk-screen. For back-lit, confirm the 24V LED mechanism.

Provide content
Supply the text, symbol number from the library, or vector artwork. Or write "text to follow" — production starts immediately while content is being confirmed.
03
Approve the proof
Lithoss sends a digital proof before engraving. Approve before the finishing stage begins. Changes cannot be made after the proof is approved.
Lead time
Engraving adds approximately one week to the standard lead time. It is completed at the end of production.
Artisanal finish
Lithoss finishes are artisanal. Slight variations may occur between engraved units — this is characteristic of the handcrafted process.
Text to follow
Orders can be placed with engraving content to follow. Production begins immediately. Content is confirmed before the finishing stage.
Custom artwork
Custom symbols, logos, or artwork can be engraved when quality vector files are supplied (AI, EPS, SVG).
